Rethinking the Intranet for All – Motor Industry Client

Lead Experience Designer & Functional Consultant Lead (Aug 2024 – Mar 2025)

Tasked with redesigning and migrating two legacy intranets into a unified SharePoint experience, I led the user experience strategy and temporarily stepped into the role of functional consultant lead due to my technical background. This project revealed key tensions between business communication goals and the real, practical needs of blue-collar workers.

  • Led co-design sessions and focus groups to shape the new homepage and templates within a strict design system.
  • Worked closely with communications stakeholders to align on goals and governance for the new intranet.
  • Identified misalignment between push-message goals and blue-collar workers’ need for fast access to practical tools and info.
  • Translated findings into a balanced, accessible intranet architecture with role-specific content strategy.
  • Designed Mobile optimised task cards and dashboard for 2 main user groups
  • Designed a flexible, people first Homepage for the new intranet. Focusing on individuals tasks, then location communications and finally organisation communications.
  • Work closely with Brand, Design System Owners and Digital Content Leads to create and document design patterns for the intranet (SharePoint) for future consistant use of the brand in a new system.
  • Designed Page Templates that followed brand and content creators needs to lower the learning curve of a new system and give editors and users a more consistant experience when navigating and consuming content.

Streamlining the tracking and management of the Product Research and Development Process

UX/Product/UI Design (April 2024 – June 2024)

The main problem to get around was to find a away for Product Managers (300px) to beable to see a snap shot of their products, their current status and able to carry out weekly and monthly tasks to update and manage them. The answer was a well tested Microsoft PowerApp that would pull in data from 4 different systems. Streamlining the experience and giving user a single point of contact for the more repetative and simple tasks. Saving them time loggin in and spread their work over 4 systems.

  • Interviews and fly on the wall oberservations to indentify user priorites within current system tasks and processes.
  • Led co-design sessions and focus groups to shape the user journeys and build the architecture for the application.
  • Collaborated with Brand and Design System Teams to make sure that guidelines where followed to created a trusted, on brand experience.
  • User tested with 7 real end users at the wireframe stage and prototype stage to find short cummings and make iterative changes in the designs.
